Anatomy of a Doctor's Mind
Being a support staff in one of the well-known hospitals in Singapore gives me a different perspective of these medical staffs, be it nurses, doctors and pharmacists. I can't deny that they ARE good in their field but when it comes to computers, they definitely suck. Of course, NOT ALL of 'em. Juz a sporadic few. I just cannot accept their unwillingness to be guided, feigning plain ignorami. Haiz ..
Anyway, in an attempt to understand what really goes on in a doctor's mind, I have gone blogsurfing on mediblogs, one of which I truly enjoyed reading. I have captured the following from one of his comment boxes ..
Where are the Dental Blogs?
Well the truth is as far as dentists are concerned, they are more like surgeons. They don't really talk to their patients much. So no talk what's there to blog.
I did overhear this once :
Bill : Doctor, how much will it cost to pull out my tooth?
Dentist : It would cost $80
Bill : How long will it take?
Dentist : It's quite fast, about 5 minutes.
Bill : $80 for a 5 minute job? Isn't that daylight robbery?
Dentist : Well Bill, if the time is the problem for you, I could always take a bit longer and pull out your tooth slowly. Would that make you feel better?
Another quirky entry of his is this.
Another one here :
Doctor gets paged at midnight by nurse to see a patient with an itch.
Nurse insists doctor orders something for the patient.
Frustrated doctor, too tired to argue, writes down in order chart:
"Nurse to scratch as required."
Now I know why my users are so petulant.
